Jams & Classes
Janet has a lot of experience being both a music teacher as well as a music learner during her adult life. She keeps on learning as much as she keeps on teaching and as a teacher, she knows it's always helpful to keep the learner's perspective in mind. Janet most enjoys teaching adults in small group settings. She's taught ukulele and guitar for many years both privately and at the Frank Bette Center for the Arts in Alameda, California. Janet taught week-long music camp programs at at the Puget Sound Guitar Workshop (PSGW), California Coast Music Camp (CCMC), and Lark Camp.
Janet's strong vocals and confident rhythm chops has made her a popular ukulele workshop and jam leader. Among her many ukulele event teaching experiences, she's taught at the Ukiah Ukulele Festival, Mendocino Ukulele Festival, Wine Country Ukulele Festival, Burning Uke (Santa Cruz), Smoldering Uke (Carmel Valley), and several times at the "Ukes on the Loose" event in (Healdsburg). Janet has presented workshops on: fingerstyle ukulele, right hand rhythm techniques, blues ukulele, taking your first leads, Hapa Haole (Hawaiian) songs, pop/rock licks and tricks, Beatles repertoire, swing jazz, reggae strums, and developing chord-melody. Not to be forgotten, Janet also teaches beginning ukulele and guitar. In the Bay Area, Janet has led ukulele jams for groups ranging from 10 to 100. Since 2020, her online "Bug Jams" provide song sheets that show ukulele, guitar and baritone uke chord boxes, aiming to be more inclusive. Besides the "official" workshop events, Janet has lead regular "local" jams in Fremont, and Alameda and Berkeley. Contact Janet Lenore if interested in setting up some classes, workshops or lessons.
