Janet Lenore |
Janet Lenore was teaching guitar, performing as part of a duo, and writing her own songs — all before she finished high school. She was also playing mandolin and some banjo when she “discovered” the ukulele, which is now her main instrument.
Janet's teaching reflects her warmth, humor and inclusiveness. Among others, she's lead workshops and jams at the Ukiah Ukulele Festival, the Wine Country Ukulele Festival, and at the Santa Cruz Ukulele Club's Burning Uke and Smoldering Uke events. She's taught week-long guitar and ukulele classes at the Puget Sound Guitar Workshop (PSGW), California Coast Music Camp (CCMC), and Lark Camp. On an ongoing basis, Janet teaches small group and private classes based in Alameda, CA. For most of the past twenty years, Janet's event planning and leadership skills have found a home with CCMC. She spent about 15 years serving on CCMC's Board of Directors. From 2002-2019, Janet "put on a show" at the Palo Alto Festival of the Arts Webster Street Stage with her husband Jeff and a cast of volunteers . She's managed CCMC's Winter Retreat for many years and morphed the 2021 event into an interactive online experience for 125 participants. Janet has released two recordings of her original music, "The Ladies of My Family" (2000) and "Pie and Other Tasty Treats" (2014). She's hoping to get back to the recording studio again soon. Wherever you find Janet playing music, you'll often also see her bass player and life partner, Jeff Davis at her side. From Hawaii to Ireland, and often on ukulele and bass uke, the two have taken on the highs and lows of life as a team for the past twenty years. |
